The Department of Geographical Sciences at the University of Maryland, College Park, is seeking a highly motivated and talented physical geographer specializing in coastal processes and ecosystems. This is a full-time, tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, depending on qualifications and experience.
This position will have its tenure home in Geographical Sciences and is expected to start in July 2025. Salary and benefits are highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities include developing and maintaining a robust, externally funded research program; teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in physical geography, coastal processes, modeling, and related subjects; leading GEOG's undergraduate Coastal Specialization with Environmental Science and Policy (ENSP) major; and more.

The Department of Geographical Sciences at University of Maryland, College Park, is searching for a financial research coordinator to help manage the pre- and post-award financial analysis/projections for the research projects under their supervision.
The Coordinator will manage six to eight million dollars per year in grant funding representing approximately 30-40 separate grant accounts.
The ideal candidate will have familiarity with developing proposals, budget projection, post-award grant administration and federal regulations, including Uniform Guidance and the FARs, as well as proven analytical skills, proactive solution orientation.

The Department of Geographical Sciences at University of Maryland, College Park, is looking to fill several Professional Track Research Faculty positions.(non-tenure position) at either the Postdoctoral Associate or Assistant Research Professor, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The roles encompass a broad spectrum of activities including but not limited to supporting projects linked to the Global Ecosystem Dynamics Investigation (GEDI), NASA’s Carbon Monitoring System (CMS), and development of methods for mapping and monitoring mature and old-growth forests.

The Global Land Programme (GLP), hosted at the University of Maryland, College Park, seeks a highly organized and motivated individual to join the Global Land Programme’s International Programme Office (GLP-IPO) as Land System Science Lead at the Assistant Research Professor/Postdoctoral Associate level depending on experience.
This new position will support the GLP’s IPO and Scientific Steering Committee (SSC) on a range of analytical and programming activities to investigate the implications of competing claims on land (e.g., nationally determined contributions to reduce GHG emissions, achieving carbon neutrality, conserving biodiversity).
Candidates must have earned a doctoral in geographical sciences or allied fields in environmental sciences, integrative geography (social and natural science). Competent programming and statistical skills (e.g., Python, IDL, MatLab, C/C++, R, TensorFlow) are required.
