UMD Ranks #4 in the World for Remote Sensing Research
A recent study conducted by Yanhua Zhuang et al. (2013) reported that the University of Maryland (UMD) published 856 papers on remote sensing from 1991-2010. Among 14,384 research institutes from 174 countries/territories that participate in remote sensing research, UMD ranked No. 4 following NASA, The Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Caltech, over all other universities and U.S. federal agencies, such as NOAA, USGS, and USDA. The Department of Geographical Sciences is the leading unit on campus on remote sensing research. What a great achievement!!
