Ralph Dubayah, recognized as a University Exemplary Researcher Honoree
Ralph Dubayah received this honor from Laurie Locasio, UMD Vice President for Research at a reception at The Hotel. He was nominated by Dean Ball (BSOS) for his role as principal investigator of the NASA Global Ecosystems Dynamics Investigation (GEDI). The GEDI Laser instrument was competitively competed as a NASA Earth Venture Mission and was successfully launched to the international space station in December 2018. Dr. Dubayah's accomplishment was also featured in Maryland Today.
At the same reception Drs. Matt Hansen and Leila DeFloriani were recognized as Honorees nominated by BSOS for their demonstrable elevation of the visibility and reputation of the University. Dr. Sinead Farrell who is in the process of joining our Department was nominated by CMNS.
