GEOG Researchers in 'The New York Times' Discussing Russia's Occupancy, Impact on Ukraine Farmland
Department of Geographical Sciences Professor Inbal Becker-Reshef and Assistant Professor Sergii Skakun were recently featured in a New York Times article about the share of farmland Russia is currently occupying in Ukraine—and more importantly, its impact.
Becker-Reshef is the director of NASA Harvest, the NASA Applied Sciences Food Security and Agriculture Program that brings together leading scientists, agricultural stakeholders, and other global partners to improve food security, agriculture and more by way of satellite Earth observations. Skakun is a part of the team as well, providing support for the program's activities and research.
