Eric Vermote and the Land Long Term Data Record Team from GEOG Awarded the NASA Robert H. Goddard Exceptional Achievement Award for Science
Adjunct Professor Eric Vermote and and his team of scientists from Geographical Sciences, Jyothy Nagol, Belen Franch, Chris Justice, Jean-Claude Roger, Inbal Becker-Reshef, Emilie Murphy, Martin Claverie and Adjunct Professor Ivan Csiszar, received the NASA Robert H. Goddard Exceptional Achievement Award for Science for the Land Long Term Data Record. The record includes the best available coarse-resolution satellite data from 1981 to present. Developing this long term climate record of surface reflectance and vegetation indices involved addressing the dynamic continuity of data from multiple sensors and instruments (AVHRR, MODIS) and sets the stage for future continuity with similar data from SNPP and JPSS VIIRS data. The development of this product has been funded by both NASA and NOAA.
