Bio

Subsequent to retiring in 2001, Dr Thompson has maintained his interest in geographic information systems.

He assists residential communities with neighborhood mapping using software from ESRI. He has presented papers at conferences on this subject, for example URISA in 2009, Towson GIS Conference in Maryland in 2010, and the Washington DC Chapter of the Community Associations Institute in 2010.

Currently Dr Thompson is working with students in the Dept. of Geographical Sciences to evaluate new software tools to facilitate residential community leaders to do their own neighborhood mapping.
