Dr. Barnet Pavao-Zuckerman visited Thomas Jefferson's Monticello and James Madison's Montpelier for a lecture and to meet with collaborators at both institutions. She has been collaborating with Montpelier for 18 years, and recently became the zooarchaeological consultant for the archaeology program at Monticello. Liz McCague, is doing her MAA and dissertation research on the history of equestrian culture and the role of African-American knowledge and labor in this history at Montpelier. Alex Vindas Cruz is doing his internship on the zooarchaeology of Montpelier, focused on landscape reconstruction. Niki Bavar is doing her Summer Research Institute project on a comparison of African-American foodways at Montpelier and Monticello.
