Hope Loiselle awarded the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program
Hope Loiselle was awarded The National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP). She proposed a project to study past human interaction with marine ecosystems, specifically with cetaceans (which includes whales, dolphins, and porpoises). She plans to combine zooarchaeological, stable isotope, and ancient DNA analyses to better understand how humans exploited these species and impacted the ecosystems in which they lived. This data will provide baseline information that can be used to inform and evaluate marine conservation policies.
Hope graduated in May with a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology with Departmental Honors. She will be pursuing a PhD in archaeology at the University of Washington this upcoming Fall.
We wish you all the best and congratulations, Hope!
