Sarah has taken a wide array of courses in medical anthropology and global health and has also served as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for Dr. Andrea López. Upon graduation, Sarah plans to pursue a Master’s in anthropology and development in the United Kingdom. She has been accepted to institutions including: the London School of Economics; St. Andrews University of Scotland; the University of Sussex; Queen’s University, Belfast; and the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). Sarah is a transfer student at the University of Maryland and is a recipient of the Frederick Douglass Scholarship. She previously attended Howard Community College (HCC) in Columbia, Maryland. Her personal background as a first-generation Pakistani woman, a Muslim and an immigrant have profoundly shaped her research interests and her interest in anthropological engagement and activism. Her other interests include South Asian studies, feminist anthropology and traveling (she previously studied abroad in Ireland with HCC!). You can find her on LinkedIn here.
