Alumna Profile: Maria Grenchik (MAA 2012)
Maria Grenchik (M.A.A. 2012) has recently accepted the position of Executive Director of the Museum of Chincoteague Island in Virginia. Maria's focus while in the department was in historical archaeology and she interned with the Naval History and Heritage Command, Underwater Archaeology Branch. Her project for the UAB centered on creating a catalog and interpretation for over five hundred artifacts from the wreck of the CSS Alabama. Maria's career since graduating with her M.A.A. has taken her through several contract and part-time positions where she has focused on museum education, collections management, and historic preservation. Her new role at the Museum of Chincoteague Island will challenge her to work collaboratively with the local community to preserve and interpret the history and culture of Chincoteague Island through research, outreach, and education.
