Bio

Siobhan Summers is a biological anthropologist and faculty specialist in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Maryland, College Park. Drawing from her experience as a graduate assistant forensic anthropologist and quality assurance coordinator at the C.A. Pound Human Identification Laboratory, her research focuses on human skeletal variation, particularly in ankle morphology, using geometric morphometrics to explore patterns of growth and development across and within populations. She is also interested in the ethical considerations surrounding skeletal collections, with a specific interest in African American burials. Her work in this area strives to promote collaborative community-centered approaches to repatriation, reburial, and memorialization of skeletal remains.

She holds a BA in Anthropology from Dickinson College and an MAA from the University of Maryland, College Park. Currently, she is pursuing a PhD in Anthropology at the University of Florida, where her research centers on post-cranial skeletal morphological variation.
