Bio
Dr. Boules is an interdisciplinary social scientist who has experience conducting community-based field research in Tunisia, Haiti and on Maryland’s eastern shore. She is interested in the impact of the global on the local: in the ways that policies affect local-scale human livelihoods, cultures and behaviors, and the ways that human systems adapt to both economic and environmental changes. Her research expertise is in climate change adaptation, water scarcity and water management, community resilience to environmental risks, sustainable livelihoods, community-based work, and qualitative and mixed-methods research. She is also interested in environmental and climate justice and in the impacts of climate agreements on marginalized communities globally.
Dr. Boules has a Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Public Policy from George Mason University, and a Master of International Affairs with a concentration in Environmental Policy from Columbia University. She is a Lecturer in the Environmental Science and Policy Program at the University of Maryland where she teaches: Senior Capstone in Environmental Science and Policy; Water: Science, Ethics and Policy; and Qualitative Research Methods for Environmental Studies.
